The Nanit Pro baby monitor gives its competitors a run for their money with its superb features and ease of use. It comes in one piece, a camera that you can connect to your smartphone through WiFi. Once connected, your smartphone will act like a display, as you can use it to monitor your baby and track their sleeping habits.
To be able to monitor your baby, you’ll have to download the Nanit companion app, which is my favorite feature of this monitor. It’s an intuitive app that tracks your baby’s sleeping cycles and gives you daily reports so that you know whether they’re healthy. On top of that, it provides tips on how you can improve your baby’s sleep health, which is extremely useful for first-timers.
The Nanit camera delivers 1080p crisp-quality videos to your smartphone. It also has a zooming option and a wide-angle view so that you see your baby the way you like. To help your baby sleep better, the monitor features a white noise player and a nightlight. Not to mention, it allows for two-way audio communication so that you can talk to your baby through it if needed.
Still, no matter how excellent the Nanit Pro is, it doesn’t come without cons. The camera doesn’t have a battery, which means you have to keep it plugged in all the time. While this might not seem like an inconvenience for many people, it is for me. Having to put my crib near an electrical outlet and dealing with extended cables all day long isn’t my walk in the park.
The final feature I’ll review is the monitor’s mounting options. You can either get it with a flex stand, a wall mount, or a floor stand. They’re all more than excellent and fit every nursery arrangement possible. However, each option comes with a different price, so you need to choose carefully.

Both devices connect over WiFi seamlessly, and as a bonus, the camera is compatible with Google Home and Alexa.
The standout feature of this monitor is its intuitive tracking capabilities. An example of this is its covered-face detection. If your baby moves while asleep and covers their face with the blanket, the app will send you an alert. The same goes if your baby coughs or rolls over. For parents who worry too much, these superb features can give them better sleep at night.
For extra versatility, the Cubo camera comes with three mounting options. You can put it on a mobile stand, a crib stand, or a floor stand. Accordingly, no matter where your crib is, you’ll be able to see your baby as clearly as day.
Like most WiFi monitors, this one comes with an easy-to-navigate companion app that you can use to watch your baby. As a bonus, it allows up to eight log-ins, so more than one person can watch the little one.
The Cubo AI Plus features a nightlight and a lullaby player, which you can use if you’re having a hard time putting your baby to sleep. It also has a talk-back functionality that lets you talk through it.
The only setback that this monitor has is its over-the-top price, which isn’t ideal for limited budgets. While its outstanding features made up for the dent in my wallet, I don’t know if I’d buy it again.

The Lollipop Baby Monitor is a dream come true for fussy babies who refuse to wear tracking socks, bracelets, or vests. While tracking vitals isn’t the normal in the baby monitoring world, some parents can’t sleep without doing it, and this monitor makes it a breeze. It utilizes AI technology to track your baby’s breathing rate and sleep positions.
The Lollipop camera has a versatile design that can be mounted in many different positions, including on the wall or the crib’s edge. It connects to your phone through WiFi, but you’ll need to download its companion app first. Once in place, the camera will send you 1080p videos with high quality that’ll make you feel as if you’re there in the nursery.
Lollipop’s companion app doesn’t only show you your baby while sleeping. It shows you sleep reports that include how many hours and in what positions your baby slept. Also, it sends you the baby’s breathing patterns so that you know what’s normal and what’s not.
Besides all the above, my favorite feature about this monitor is its True Crying Detection technology. False alarms are a common occurrence among baby monitors, as some of them detect different noises as crying. However, the Lollipop eliminates this chance, as it can detect the difference between ambient noises and crying using advanced technologies.
The only setback this monitor has, in my opinion, is the lack of a parent unit. I know it’s normal for WiFi monitors to come in one piece, but using my phone for monitoring drains its battery. Not a deal-breaker point, but one to consider if you don’t want to shorten your phone’s lifespan.

If you like to splurge on luxurious baby items, the Miku Pro baby monitor is one of the best baby monitors out there for you. Not only does it come with all the essential features you look for in a monitor, but it carries a few extra features to help make your parenthood experience easier.
For starters, it comes in one piece, which is a minimalistic-looking camera that you can put on a nearby surface or mount on the wall. It’s best put in a bird-eye view position because then, it can track your baby’s breathing rate accurately. You can achieve this position by mounting it on the wall right above the crib or buying Miku’s separate floor stand.
The Miku Pro comes with an innovative companion app that shows you your baby while sleeping and sends you detailed sleep and breathing reports. Through it, you can know your baby’s average bedtime, wake-up time, onset, and more.
For accurate tracking, the camera is equipped with SensorFusion technology that tracks five metrics at the same time. It tracks movements, temperature, sound, light, and breathing rate. It also sends you alerts to let you know whether the sleeping conditions are comfortable enough for your baby, which is an excellent option for first-time parents.
Best of all, the Miku camera features two-way communication, night vision, a multi-camera option, and lullaby playing. To ensure your baby hears the music clearly, the camera is equipped with an Ole Wolff dual-speaker.
Although the Miku Pro is feature-packed, as you can see, I still think it’s way overpriced, especially when compared to other WiFi monitors. Its price is the only drawback I can think of, but it might be a deal-breaker for many people.

5. Motorola PIP1510 – Best Parent Unit
One of my biggest issues with WiFi monitors is that they come without parent units, which means I have to use my phone for monitoring all day long. After weeks of looking, I finally landed a superb WiFi monitor with a reliable parent unit: the Motorola PIP1510.
You have the option to use the parent unit or your phone, and if you choose the latter, you’ll need to download Motorola’s companion app. On either display, you’ll be able to see your baby and track the temperature inside the room. If it gets too cold or too hot, the monitor will send you an alert. As a bonus, the monitor comes with an easy-to-attach wall mount.
The Motorola camera includes pan, tilt, and zoom options, so you can see your baby from whatever angle you like. It’s equipped with a wide-range WiFi antenna that guarantees a secure connection to your home’s network. Also, it has a microphone and a speaker to help you hear your baby and talk back to them through your unit.
As for the display unit, it features sound level indicators that light up whenever your baby makes a noise. Also, it has a high-range antenna that helps it stay connected to the camera, even if they’re 1,000 feet apart. However, any distance larger than that, and the connection will be lost.
The display’s battery stays alive for up to 7 hours on full charge, which is shorter than a phone’s life but is still enough to last you the night.
One of the few setbacks I noticed in this monitor is the lack of features in the companion app. It only shows you your baby while sleeping and allows you to take screenshots and keep a journal. However, it doesn’t send you sleep reports or tips to help your baby sleep faster.

The Chillax Baby Mood Pro is the first and best 2-in-1 baby monitor on my list. The monitor comes in two pieces, a display unit and a camera attached to a light globe. You can separate the globe and use it as a separate nightlight for your baby, which saves you the money of buying one and warrants the monitor its 2-in-1 title.
The monitor can operate with or without WiFi. If you choose the former, you’ll need to use your phone as the parent unit, but if you don’t have a stable connection, you can use the display instead. If you use your phone, you’ll have to download the ChillaxCare app or use Alexa to control the monitor. The app doesn’t include many options, though.
The Chillax monitor is pretty basic and easy to use. It features labeled buttons that you can use to control it and shows you your baby without tracking any metrics inside the room.
Meanwhile, the Chillax camera films a 360-degree view of your baby, and it can connect to a power bank if you detach it from the light globe, which is its power source. As for the globe, it works as a mood light soother that shifts colors depending on your baby’s condition, whether they’re getting ready for bed or already sleeping. You can also control the intensity of each color.
On top of that, the light globe features high-quality speakers that can play soothing lullabies for your baby. Now, I love this feature because even after my children grow up, they can use the globe as a night lamp or a sleep trainer, which makes the product more cost-efficient.
One of the setbacks of the Chillax Baby Mood Pro is its over-the-top price. While I think it’s justified because you can use it for years for different purposes, it isn’t suitable for limited budgets.

If you want to buy a reliable baby monitor without leaving a dent in your wallet, the Safety 1st HD monitor is your best bet. It comes with a reasonable price tag that suits all budgets, and it carries all the essential features you might need in a monitor.
The monitor comes in one piece, which is a tiltable camera with crisp-clear night vision. It comes attached to a convenient stand, making it easy to set it up on any surface near the crib. The package doesn’t include a display unit, so you’ll need to download the monitor’s companion app on your phone and use it to monitor your baby.
The app doesn’t include a lot of features, and it’s a bit glitchy. However, it allows connections to more than one camera. So if you have twins or closely-aged children, you can buy more than one camera and monitor all of your children on one screen. Now, this is much more convenient than watching multiple displays at once, so it’s a superb option to have on a monitor.
To reduce the risk of false alarms, the monitor utilizes advanced sound detection technology to differentiate between crying and other sounds. Also, it detects motion and sends you alerts in case your baby moves abnormally while sleeping. Best of all, the 1080p videos of your sleeping babies are protected with encryption to prevent hackers and stolen information.
For more convenience, the Safety 1st monitor features two-way audio communication and rechargeable batteries. On a full charge, the batteries can last up to 12 hours, which is more than enough for a sleeping baby.
Despite all the above, I still think the monitor has room for improvement, especially regarding its mounting positions. I think there should be a wall mounting option, as it gives a much better view than mounting on a regular surface.

The VTech VM901 smart baby monitor sets new standards for monitors with zooming cameras. It comes with a wide-angle pan-and-tilt camera that features 4x local zoom and 10x digital zoom. This way, you get to watch your baby closely and see any movement they make while sleeping. As a bonus, the camera has night vision to give you sharp images, even in the dark.
The VTech monitor can work with or without WiFi, and it comes with a display unit that features labeled buttons and light indicators. On the screen, you can see your baby sleeping, the nursery’s temperature, and the monitor’s battery charge. You can also use your phone as the parent unit if you plan on going out of the house while your little one is napping.
The monitor allows two-way communication so that you can talk to your baby without entering the nursery. Also, it features motion and temperature alerts that will notify you if the weather gets too hot or too cold and if your baby moves suddenly.
That said, my favorite feature about the VM901 is its lullaby player. It comes loaded with 5 soothing melodies and 4 white noise tracks to help your baby fall asleep faster, which saves you the money of buying a separate white noise maker.
Despite all these features, the VTech monitor comes with a reasonable price that can fit seamlessly into your nursery’s budget. However, it doesn’t come without cons, as the camera doesn’t have any mounting options other than putting it on a nearby surface.

Features to Consider When Buying a WiFi Baby Monitor
If it’s your first time buying a monitor, you’ll need to keep a few pointers in mind to avoid getting the wrong product for you. Companion App
Nearly all WiFi monitors come with companion apps for ease of use. However, they don’t all provide the same features. For example, the Nanit Pro app sends you daily sleep reports and gives you parenting tips, while the Chillax app is only good for watching your sleeping baby.
Depending on what you want, you should look for a suitable app that meets your needs. If you’re a first-time parent, I recommend looking for a helpful coaching app like the Nanit one. However, if you’re already experienced in the field and don’t need more than the essentials, you can get any monitor you like.
Mounting Options
Some monitors come with versatile mounting options that give you more freedom when choosing a place for your crib. Meanwhile, some monitors can only be put on a nearby surface.
I personally prefer a wall-mountable monitor because it gives me a better-angled view of my baby. Also, monitors with contactless vital tracking features only work accurately when placed in a bird-eye view position, which is only possible through a floor stand or a wall mount.
In general, it’s important to assess the available mounting places in your nursery before making a decision. If you don’t have any surfaces near the crib, you should prioritize versatile mounting options.
Rechargeable Batteries
WiFi baby monitors either come with rechargeable batteries or need to be plugged in. Both options have pros and cons. A rechargeable battery can die unexpectedly, but it gives you more freedom of movement because you don’t have to place the monitor near an electrical outlet.
Meanwhile, plugged monitors will never die out on you, but they’ll stop working in case of a power outage, not to mention the inconvenience of placing the crib near an outlet. To choose between the two, take a look at your nursery and see whether the electrical outlets are conveniently placed or not.
Parent Unit
As you’ve seen above, some WiFi monitors don’t come with a parent unit. Instead, they depend on you using your phone for monitoring. I’m all for advanced technologies and intuitive smartphone apps, but I don’t prefer the absence of a basic display unit, and I’ll tell you why.
Using your phone as a parent unit means you’ll unlock it every few minutes to check on your baby, which drains its battery and shortens its overall lifespan. Not to mention, if you get too many notifications, you can miss an important one from the baby camera in your nursery.
